On a thrilling night in Des Moines, Kaw Valley FC advanced to the Central Conference Final (and final eight in USL League Two) with a thrilling 3-2 extra time victory over Chicago FC United. The Cranes will face the Flint City Bucks for the Central Conference crown at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Man of the Match Ignacio Lerech

In the first half, Chicago has the majority of the possession but the Cranes defense held strong and Nicolau Neto made a number of key saves. Before half, FC United was called for a hand ball in the box and Pandelis Popgeorgiev buried the penalty kick to give the Kansas squad the halftime advantage.

The teams were quite even in the second half until a well-played attack by Chicago allowed them to equalize in the final ten minutes - sending the match to extra time. In the first 15 minute period, Chicago scored quickly and looked to be on their way to the final with a 2-1 lead. However, KVFC was not done yet. Ignacio Lerech checked into the match and made an immediate impact, creating multiple attacks before finally being awarded for his work with an assist on the equalizing goal from Mason Visconti.

With just minutes remaining in extra time and penalty kicks seeming certain, Visconti sprinted up the right side and drew a penalty in the box to give KVFC a chance for extra-time victory. Lorant Lettner calmly buried the PK and sent the Cranes to the final on Sunday.
