Kaw Valley FC announced today that it has named Alex Nichols as its new Head Coach and Technical Director ahead of the 2021 USL2 season.

"I am very appreciative for the opportunity to lead this program into the future. This is an outstanding organization, with extremely high expectations, which is exactly the type of environment that I crave to be a part of. I look forward to continuing to build upon the foundation and success that Coach Urbanyi and all of the Kaw Valley FC players have already created. I would like to thank Marcus Dudley, and the Board of Directors, for this amazing opportunity. I truly believe that the sky's the limit for this club and I’m excited to get started,” said Nichols.

Nichols currently serves as the Head Coach for the Central Methodist University men’s soccer team.  In his seven years at the helm of the CMU program, Coach Nichols has amassed an impressive record of 105-26-8 (.755), won three Conference Championships (2018, 2019, 2020), two NAIA National Championships (2018, 2019), and has been recognized as the NAIA National Coach of Year twice (2018, 2019).  Over the last three seasons (2018-2020), Coach Nichols has led the CMU Eagles to an astonishing 60-3-2 record (.923) and has remained unbeaten during the 2020-2021 campaign.  The CMU men’s soccer team is currently ranked #1 in the country (NAIA) and is on a 32 game winning streak.

“We’re extremely excited to have Alex join the Kaw Valley FC family” said KVFC President & General Manager Marcus Dudley.  “Alex brings a wealth of knowledge and experience and a proven track record of recruiting extremely talented individuals and then quickly developing them into successful teams.  Players love to play for him, he has been highly recommended by multiple coaches that I respect, and he’s a native of Kansas City.  I’m confident that Coach Nichols will be an excellent fit for the organization and we are very excited about the future of the club.”

The USL2 season is scheduled to kick off in May.  Information on single game and season tickets will be released shortly after the 2021 season schedule has been finalized and released in mid February.
